I watch a lot of Korean drama movie and series but let me tell you, this one is so much beyond your regular K-Drama.
The plot is so interesting that I could not guess what would happen in every segment of the story. I do not want to spoil that much of the synopsis but the story is a mix between friendship, love, vengeance, and a disturbing addiction to burn stuff.
At the end of the story, I thought, wow this definitely was not expected from a Korean drama movie. And then I found out that the movie was based on a story written by Haruki Murakami titled Barn Burning. I have seen some other movie adaptations from Murakami’s stories and Burning has the similarity to them. The slow pace of the story, the details of each gesture, and the hanging questions in each segment. Overall I really appreciate the story itself, the artsy cinematic shots, and the curiosity built up from the story.
Oh if you are The Walking Dead fan, you might be a little more excited because Steven Yeun is one of the main stars in this movie. (Not that it is important but I have not even watched a single episode of The Walking Dead. Sorry Walking Dead fans out there!)
